Phoenix Rescue Mission collects over 1,300 turkeys for families this Thanksgiving | Arizona News

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) — Phoenix Rescue Mission is giving families a big present this Thanksgiving. The organization collected 1,316 turkeys for Valley families in need and will distribute the food to families in the upcoming days.

The turkeys will be delivered directly to families during the Mission’s Thanksgiving Outreach Event and at the Hope for Hunger Food Bank. The public came out to the drive-thru event at the Hope for Hunger Food Bank near 55th and Missouri avenues on Saturday morning to donate the turkeys.

Volunteers were seen hauling hundreds of turkeys into carts and making food boxes for families. Families were given potatoes, rolls, canned goods and more into the boxes. Two-hundred food boxes were made and thousands of people will be fed this holiday season.
